Right on the Brisbane River, this project pushed our team to new levels of creativity and problem-solving. With no road access and a steep sloping site, everything had to come in by barge, including an 8-tonne excavator. The result is a landscape that’s not just beautiful but built to last.

The old timber deck was replaced with premium composite decking, chosen for durability and a sleek, uniform finish. Beneath the surface, over 30 deep screw piles were driven up to 20 metres into the ground to secure the revetment wall and foundations. Even the pontoon walkway was re-levelled with precision, despite the challenges of tides and access.

The once steep and unstable slope has been reshaped into a series of usable zones. Wide staircases, layered garden beds, and sweeping views now connect the house to the spa, pool, lawn, and waterfront. Curved Corten steel edging stabilises the slope while adding architectural form, softened by lush planting.

The clients wanted a space that worked for both everyday family life and entertaining. Alongside the pool and spa, we added raised garden beds, play areas, and even last-minute inclusions like a trampoline and jungle gym, all while keeping the design cohesive.

The detailing in this project brings together strength and elegance. Millboard limed oak decking was selected for its natural look and low maintenance, while travertine tiling introduced a touch of luxury across key areas. Frameless glass pool fencing was installed to provide safety without obstructing the views of the river. The curved Corten steel garden beds add a sculptural element to the design while also functioning as retaining structures, blending beauty with practicality.

What was once an inaccessible and flood-damaged riverbank is now a tailored outdoor experience, strong, elegant, and family-friendly, with every detail designed to make the most of its incredible location.
