We’re already a year on from finalising our initial Design and Build at our Wisteria project! Let’s take a closer look at the final design, revealing some of our favourite design choices and elements throughout.
Starting at the front garden, we have two stunning feature trees, chosen for their gorgeous aesthetic bark and shape, Lagerstroemia ‘Natchez’, underplanted with Tabernaemontana corymbosa 'Little Emerald', for a neat, tidy finish. Stone cladding as edging really elevates these trees, referencing the pillars framing the entrance of the home. The stone cladding matches in with the existing cladding over the gate house, showcasing warmer hues and a textured finish.
To promote privacy from the street we have lined the front boundary garden with Syzygium ‘Straight and Narrow’ for a neat green border, underplanted with trailing Rosemary to provide layers of dense, beautiful greenery.
Enter through the stunning gatehouse, a strongly defined pathway leads to the property. The pathway has been refreshed and tiled with travertine, complete with a grey cobblestone border. In choosing a cooler tone cobblestone, we were able to work in with the existing elements on the façade for a cohesive finish.
Another important, yet essential, feature to any property is the driveway. Here we’ve refreshed the existing foundation while strategically extending the width with a tiled grey cobblestone intentionally matching the cobbles installed throughout.
The secondary alfresco was a very prominent feature of the design brief, previously an underutilised space in a prime location adjoining the home. Now it breathes life and beauty with the strongly defined framework of the arbour, complete with an outdoor barbeque to invite family and guests for outdoors. A Wisteria vine grows across the arbour catching sunlight through it’s leaves, you can see why we we’re inspired to name this project ‘Wisteria’.
The pool area has been rejuvenated by extending it’s footprint with travertine tiling and a sensational garden for year round interest including Tristaniopsis laurina ‘Luscious’, Agapanthus, Salvia, Buddleia and Ilex crenata. Stepping onto the adjoining alfresco, premium Millboard composite decking has been installed for the beauty and aesthetic of timber, with the convenience of a contemporary composite. This slight elevation onto the alfresco from the pool area intentionally defines the areas, yet they are seamlessly integrated with the glass pool fencing. The Millboard decking, in the warm Golden Oak palette continues to surround the home for cohesion.
Looking back at our initial brief, it’s wonderful to walk through the finished design, seeing the plants settled in together, complimenting the different features of the hardscaping. As you walk through every detail of this project feels sophisticated and balances natural beauty with traditional, defined style. From the premium finishes, to the well-executed structural elements, the overall result is one that will stand proudly overtime, supporting and enriching our clients home and lifestyle.
